President Hexter Chosen AICUM Vice Chair/Chair Elect

Thursday, May 13, 2010

President Ralph J. Hexter has been chosen by the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts (AICUM) as vice chair/chair elect of the organization's executive committee board of directors, effective June 1.

President Hexter will be vice chair until June 1, 2011, when he will become chair.

"With experience as both a faculty member and administrator, President Hexter knows the issues faced by colleges and universities very well. He is a dynamic advocate for independent higher education. We are fortunate to have him on our board of directors," said AICUM president Richard Doherty.

More than 100 members representing 50 institutions gathered at AICUM's annual meeting last week, which included election of a new executive committee.

Boston University President Bob Brown is chair, and Urban College of Boston President Linda Turner is treasurer.

Founded in 1967, AICUM represents the independent colleges and universities in Massachusetts on many legislative and regulatory issues at the state and national level.
