Presidential Search Update: July 3, 2019

The Search Committee formed the panel by inviting community members to self-nominate, then we selected participants representing a broad range of campus roles and diverse perspectives. We also asked the Alumni Advisory Group to appoint two of their members. We’ve required everyone participating in the interviews to:

•  Maintain absolute confidentiality, now and for the future, regarding the candidates’ identities and any information learned about them as part of the interview process. (Revealing this information could have adverse consequences for the candidates at their current positions.)

•  Commit to being available in person for the duration of the interviews.

•  Center the best interests of Hampshire and its mission, and not a particular constituency or agenda, in conducting interviews and evaluating candidates.

•  Provide feedback to the Search Committee by completing an assessment sheet.

The community interview panelists are:

Hampshire’s senior leadership team will also participate in assessing the final candidates, as will Deans Natalie Sowell, Sue Darlington, Becky Miller, and Elizabeth Conlisk.

The Search Committee will then be charged with making a final recommendation to the Board of Trustees, which has the legal authority and responsibility to hire a President.

This has been a very fast yet rewarding process, and there is a lot of work to do yet, but we are thrilled to be approaching the final interview stage.
