FOOD, FARM, & SUSTAINABILITY: A six-week academic program focused on food production and sustainable agriculture is slated for summer 2012. From June 4 to July 13, the Food, Farm, and Sustainability Institute will combine classroom instruction and hands-on experience based mainly at the Hampshire College Farm Center. Learn more >>

EDUCATING FOR CHANGE: Excitement is palpable on campus around the April 27 inauguration of President Jonathan Lash. We promise: information on ticket availability will be announced very soon. We realize that not everyone can attend, and space limitations will exist. To ensure that everyone can participate, even from a distance, we will live-stream the ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Video will be available on the College website following the ceremony. Hampshire in Havana
HAMPSHIRE IN HAVANA: Meet writers, visual artists, and filmmakers, and get a sense of the vitality, complexities, and contradictions of contemporary Cuban life. Hampshire has a superb 12-year-old semester-in-Havana program, developed by our faculty in collaboration with the Cuban Institute of Artists and Writers. Now, being offered for the first time is a weeklong trip to Cuba for alums, friends, and families. What could be more fun than traveling with Professors Carollee Bengelsdorf and Margaret Cerullo, who will lead this learning journey? The trip is tentatively scheduled for just after commencement in May. To learn more, send an email to

STONYFIELD ENTREPRENEURSHIP INSTITUTE: We know you’re already planning to attend the Div IV on Social Change, June 8-10. Why not make a long weekend of it? Join Gary Hirshberg 72F and other business leaders on June 7-8 and learn about financing, marketing, and managing sustainable enterprises that are both profitable and good for people and the planet. The institute starts Thursday at 5:30 p.m. with networking, dinner, and “Tales from the Trenches.” It continues Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with interactive, supportive sessions on marketing, finance, leadership, and business as a force for social change.
