This year’s Div IV theme was Transforming Ideas, Pursuing the Humanities. From keynote speaker Laverne Cox to student speaker Anna Shaddae Rodriguez 11F, all those at the podium on May 17 offered the 324 graduates Hampshire sent out into the world that day stellar advice and praise. Trustee chair Gaye Hill asked one of the great questions of the day, quoting from Dr. Seuss: “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” Commencement video and photos »


When President Jonathan Lash suggested transforming a horse barn into a useful community space, students ran with the idea. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held May 15 for the building, named the Roos-Rohde House to honor the dedication to Hampshire of former board chair Sig Roos 73F and his wife Ruthie Rohde 75S. It will be the new home of Mixed Nuts as well as a space for socializing and studying. More »


Professor of Chemistry Dulasiri Amarasiriwardena and Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry Rayane Moreira received the 2014 David Gruber Awards for Excellence in Teaching and Advising. More »

Larry Berger and Emily Rimmer received the 2014 Carol and Blair Brown Staff Excellence Awards. Berger is technical director for music and dance, and Rimmer is director for queer/women services. More »


A $400,000 grant from the Luce Initiative on Asian Studies and the Environment (LIASE) will provide new opportunities for faculty and students to build cultural connections and pursue environmental and agricultural research in China and Thailand. More »

30 – 30 – 30 CHALLENGE

We’re in the June push: The College will receive $30,000 that has been pledged if 30 percent of alums make a Hampshire Fund gift by the close of the fiscal year on June 30. More »
