Mellon Grant of $1.2 Million Funds Reinvention of Hampshire Library

Hampshire has earned the generous, seven-figure grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in response to the College’s proposal to remake the College library and centralize academic support services currently dispersed across campus.

The countdown to the opening ceremony for the R.W. Kern Center has begun, as Hampshire is now finalizing plans for the building’s official ribbon-cutting on Friday, April 29, 2016.

Hampshire students who undertook a sweeping, immersive arts and humanities course funded by a coveted grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) recently capped their studies by presenting their work to the campus community.

Through her Division III ecology research project, fourth-year student Chiara Forrester is studying how plant life is affected by climate change, with a multi-year project of bringing Rocky Mountain soil samples to Hampshire's science center.
