Hampshire Receives Webby Award Nomination for Best Mobile Site

Hampshire College has been named one of five finalists among schools and universities worldwide by the Webby Awards, the leading international honor for excellence on the Internet, in the Mobile Sites & Apps category. The College is competing for two honors: a Webby Award, judged by members of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, and a People’s Voice Award, judged by voters, click here to cast your vote for Hampshire. In addition, Hampshire is being recognized as an Honoree in the Websites School/University category, among the top 15 Websites worldwide in this category. The redesigned site was launched in the fall of 2015 to better capture the compelling character of Hampshire—its people and learner-centered approach to education—and appeal more directly to prospective students who would thrive in its inquiry-based, experiential learning environment.


Hampshire College is among the top 1.4% of all U.S. colleges whose graduates are most likely to earn a doctorate. Hampshire placed #40 among the nation’s nearly 3,000 colleges, ranking closely among Cornell, Dartmouth, Stanford, Yale, and Duke according to the U.S. government’s annual census just released.

The Gruber Awards for Excellence in Teaching and Advising, established by alum David Gruber to showcase faculty excellence, have been awarded to Professors Chris Tinson and Karen Koehler.


Olivia Masi Biller's student research on bee immunity from her Division III thesis was recently published by science journal PLOS One. Research by Biller and collaborators suggests a balanced diet may be important for bees to strengthen their immune system; the nectar of certain flowers bolsters a bee’s defense against parasites.

The College is programming its Division IV alum weekend in June around the theme 'Build, Create, Design' to mark the Center for Design's anniversary.

Div III student Aurelis Troncoso’s second study abroad trip with Hampshire in Cuba unexpectedly paved the way for a third, funded by an Ethics and the Common Good grant, where she would co-curate and premiere an international exhibit.


A Hampshire student is committed to removing barriers between hearing and Deaf communities through her Division III project, including co-founding the first regional Deaf Studies conference hosted by Hampshire's American Sign Language Collective.

Students in Game Course Seek to Publish New Game by May
