Cycling

Hampshire College is located in a road bike and mountain bike mecca! There are hundreds of miles of trail riding accessible directly from Hampshire's campus. The Holyoke mountain range runs east to west across the Pioneer Valley. Within this range are miles of technical and scenic trails that are ideal for mountain biking or hiking.

Western Massachusetts is also a wonderful place for road cyclists. There are miles of flat riding up the Connecticut River Valley. If riding hills interests you, there are unlimited opportunities on the scenic rural roads of the area. Check out area mountain biking trails.

Outdoor Programs offers a spring course in bicycle maintenance. You will focus on one part of your bicycle during each class, repairing and maintaining that component until the entire bicycle has been covered. There is a work space that is managed by a student worker for students to work independently on their bikes. Through this program it is possible to borrow bikes free of charge.
