For thirty years, Kathy Kyker-Snowman devoted her professional life to inspiring students of all ages to discover their strengths through energetic outdoor adventuring.
Kathy was known for her enthusiasm; her welcoming smile and acceptance of others without judgment; her perpetual devotion to learning and to teaching others; her physical strength; and fearless, skilled and joyful ability to lead.
At age 52, Kathy lost her vibrant life to cancer, and outdoor education lost an exemplary leader. In her memory, this fund was started by Kathy's family, friends and associates to keep her spirit alive.
The fund provides grants to support women outdoor leaders in their efforts to enhance their professional skills. The fund is open to women students at the Five Colleges who have a keen interest in oudoor recreation, especially those pursuing leadership positions.
The process includes submitting contact information; a brief essay describing the applicant's experience in outdoor adventuring and education; a description of the training opportunity to be funded; and importance of this training to the applicant's professional development.
