Who Should Apply to the Creative Media Institute?
Artists, academics, critical thinkers, and students of film, photography, video, and new media. Artists seeking perspective on their own work or a new perspective on the work of others.
Are there any prerequisites required to participate in the program?
We encourage anyone with a strong interest/background in the topics covered during the program to apply. The program is designed for participants with experience in film and video creation and creative writing.
How do I apply?
We encourage you to apply online as soon as possible to ensure enrollment availability.
What does the priority deadline mean?
The priority deadline is the latest date we can guarantee room in the program. After April 3, spots are filled on a first come, first serve basis.
What is the application timeline?
Typically, once a student submits a complete application, the faculty selection committee will review the application and make an admission decision within two weeks. Once the student is notified of the enrollment decision, they are encouraged to make a program deposit to indicate the intention to enroll in the program.
What is the refund policy for summer academic programs?
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Only completed applications are reviewed. In order to secure your place in the program, a $300 nonrefundable tuition deposit will be due two weeks after date of acceptance.
April 3 - Priority Deadline for all applications (the last date by which we can guarantee space in the program)
April 11 - Tuition Discount Deadline (students will receive 15% tuition discount if all payments are received)
May 1 - Application Deadline (all application materials must be submitted)
May 15 - Payment Deadline (all deposits and payments must be submitted)
If a student should withdraw from a summer academic program at Hampshire College for any reason, the program fee will be refunded according to the following schedule: withdrawal before the deposit payment deadline date: 100% of the fee paid beyond the non-refundable deposit; withdrawal after the program start date: no refund. The student's date of withdrawal is determined by the postmark on the written notification of withdrawal to the program.
