Participants can chose to purchase meals daily in our dining commons and/or chose to prepare their own meals in their condo-style living quarters. 

Applications and Deadlines

Applications will go online in November 2015. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Only completed applications are reviewed. 

April 3: Priority Deadline for all completed and submitted applications to receive a 15% tuition discount
April 11: Tuition Discount Deadline (all payments must be received for applications submitted by April 3 in order to receive 15% tuition discount)
May 1: Application Deadline (application materials must be submitted)
May 15: Payment Deadline (all payments must be submitted)

Prerequisites required?

We encourage anyone with a strong interest/background in the topics covered during the program to apply. The program is designed to incorporate a variety of skill levels, although it is helpful for the student to have at least some experience.

How do I apply?

We encourage you to apply online as soon as possible to ensure enrollment availability. We have a priority deadline of April 3, but admission is on a rolling basis.

What does the priority deadline mean?

The priority deadline is the latest date we can guarantee room in the program. The applications will then be processed on a rolling basis after that date. After April 3, spots are filled on a first come; first served basis.

What is the application timeline?

Typically, once a student submits a complete application, the faculty selection committee will review the application and make an admission decision within two weeks. Once students are notified of the enrollment decision, they are encouraged to make a program deposit to indicate their intention to enroll in the program.

What is the refund policy for summer academic programs?

The tuition balance is due by May 15. There are no tuition refunds available after the first day of the program. If a student should withdraw from a summer academic program at Hampshire College for any reason, the program fee will be refunded according to the schedule below. Withdrawal before the deposit payment deadline date: 100% of the fee paid beyond the non-refundable deposit. Withdrawal after the program start date: no refund. The student's date of withdrawal is determined by the postmark on the written notification of withdrawal from the program.

Residency Requirement

Because of the intensive nature of the program, all participants are strongly recommended to reside on campus for the duration of the course. Students should indicate their residency preference directly on the program application.

Health Insurance

Please note that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires all students to carry health insurance. Upon acceptance to the program, you will be asked to provide proof of insurance or required to purchase temporary coverage that could increase the overall program cost.
