Email Service & Policy

Hampshire College offers a free webmail account (Frog Mail - E-mail For Life) to all graduated alumni, or alums-of-record (alumni who have completed 4 or more semesters). Alumni-of-record must contact the alumni relations office to request an account.

Alums may retain accounts in perpetuity with a soft disk quota of 80 MB (for more information, see 'Alumni Quotas' using the link in the left menu). If necessary, graduating students will be notified upon becoming alums and given a month to reduce disk usage to within the 80 MB quota. Email accounts will remain accessible to the alum as long as they are active. Inactive alum accounts, defined as those which have not been logged into for at least one year or do not have e-mail forwarded, may be deleted without notice. If the account is deleted all e-mail, address book entries and personalization in the account will be lost. The e-mail account will be available to the alum for reactivation, but deleted e-mail cannot be recovered.

Spouses, partners, other family members, or friends are not eligible for an account on the college's e-mail system.
 
Acceptable Use

The college permits personal correspondence through college accounts as long as such correspondence does not excessively burden the college's network or servers. Additional guidelines may apply to e-mail sent to college mail lists.

The e-mail system may not be used to transmit sexually explicit images or messages that may be construed as harassment, nor may it be used for any communications that contain ethnic slurs, racial epithets, or anything that may be reasonably construed as disparagement of others based on race, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, or religious or political beliefs.
