Welcome new international students!

On behalf of Hampshire College and the multicultural and international student services (MISS) office, we would like to extend a warm welcome to our community. Just as you have been preparing for your arrival at Hampshire, so have many of us; we are hard at work making arrangements to provide you with exciting and engaging orientation programs that will help you get acquainted with the College and the neighboring areas.

Spring 2012 Incoming International Students:
All international students on a visa (e.g., F-1 and J-1), please read the information below about your arrival at Hampshire College.

Preparing for your Student Visa:

After the MISS office has received your required documents (International Student Data Form, Financial Guarantee Form with supporting financial documentation), you will then receive a postal mailing that will include the necessary immigration document from the school required for your visa application, guidance on the visa application process, and essential pre-arrival information.

Note: Incoming international students should schedule their visa appointments at a local U.S. embassy/consulate as  as possible after they have accepted their admission to Hampshire College.

Arrival Date:

All international students must arrive by their program start date as listed on their Form I-20 (F-1s) or Form DS-2019 (J-1s). They are also permitted to arrive one day earlier than new student move-in to accommodate long air travel times. International students should arrive on campus no earlier than Friday, January 20. Should you need accommodations prior to this date, please refer to http://newstudents.hampshire.edu for information on local hotels. Hampshire College will help arrange ground transportation for international students only on Friday, January 20 from Bradley International Airport. Students must fill out the required Arrival Form no later than Friday, January 13.

We are delighted that you have chosen Hampshire for your education and look forward to meeting you after your arrival.

Sincerely,

Melissa Scheid Frantz and O.C. Gorman
