In order to compete for promising new faculty members, we must be in a position to invest in their work by providing grants for research and scholarship early in their careers through Named Endowed Funds for Faculty Research and Scholarship.
We seek investors for at least twenty named and endowed funds for faculty research and scholarship at a funding level of $100,000 or more per fund.
Some examples of these funds are:
Martha Sharp Joukowsky Faculty Development Fund: Supports faculty research, scholarship, and curriculum development; additionally, it provides support for the development of curriculum, travel to scholarly conferences, and the acquisition of materials necessary to carry out a variety of scholarly and artistic activities during the academic year.
Model Family Faculty Development Fund: Established by the Model Family to provide seed money to support those faculty initiatives that seem most likely to attract further external funding for fully implemented programs or curricular innovation.
Jerome L. Rappaport Faculty Recognition Awards: Established to support professional development and/or research by faculty designated as “particularly outstanding scholars, teachers, and community activists.” Preference is given to young faculty who are most likely to involve students in their research, and who inspire students to pursue meaningful research of their own.
