Daily Incident Log
Below is a listing of all incidents, fires, accidents, and arrests reported to the Hampshire College Department of Public Safety. Each listing includes the date and time of the report; a description of the incident, accident, or arrest that includes the location of the event and a case number. These are provided for the education of the community as well as to satisfy the requirements of the Federal Right to Know Law. Fire Alarm:
Officers and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to Dakin House H for a fire alarm. The cause of the alarm was fire extinguisher fumes. The fire extinguisher was confiscated. AFD reset the panel and cleared the scene - 1255 (1010-153-OF).
Sunday—March 14, 2010
Fire Alarm:
Officers and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to Enfield/Greenwich House Office for a fire alarm. The cause of the alarm was shower steam. AFD reset the panel and cleared the scene - 0810 (1010-152-OF).
Saturday—March 13, 2010
Fire Alarm:
Officers and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to Greenwich for a fire alarm. The cause of the alarm was cooking smoke. AFD reset the panel and cleared the scene - 0206 (1010-150-OF).
Larceny Over $250:
Officers were dispatched to Enfield for a report of stolen property from a student. A description of the stolen item was taken and a report was filed - 1701 (1010-151-OF).
Accident:
Officers were dispatched to Library Road for a report of a single vehicle accident. A Commonwealth of Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Crash Police Report was filed - 2030 (1010-06-AC).

Larceny Over $250:
Officers were dispatched to the Public Safety office for a report from a student for stolen property from Franklin Patterson Hall. A description of the stolen item was taken and a report was filed - 0547(Case 1010-149-OF).
Wednesday—March 10, 2010
Tagging Property:
Officers were dispatched to the bus circle shed for a report of vandalism. Officers noted graffiti on the chalkboard. Photographs were taken and a work order was submitted to Physical Plant to clean the graffiti – 1646 (1010-147-OF).
Motor Vehicle, Malicious Damage:
Officers were dispatched to Prescott parking lot for a report of vehicle damage. A report was filed and photographs were taken - 0518 (1010-148-OF).
Tuesday—March 09, 2010
Medical Emergency:
Officers and EMTs were dispatched to Merrill for a report of an ill student. EMTs administered first aid and advised the student to visit health services for further treatment. The individual signed a Refusal of Care form – 1215 (1010-144-OF).
Fire Alarm:
Officers and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to the Enfield/Greenwich House Office for a fire alarm. The cause of the alarm was cooking smoke. AFD reset the panel and cleared the scene - 0840 (1010-145-OF).

Medical Emergency:
Officers and EMTs were dispatched to Enfield for a report of an injured student. EMTs administered first aid and advised the student seek further medical attention. The student signed a Refusal of Care form - 0015 (1010-140-OF).
Larceny:
Officers were dispatched to Prescott for a report of larceny. A report and list of the missing items was recorded – 0330 (1010-141-OF).
Negligent Operation of Motor Vehicle:
While on routine patrol, offices observed a vehicle parking in a tow zone. The student was asked to move the vehicle and proceeded to leave the area at a high rate of speed and neglected to stop at the stop sign - 0359 (1010-142-OF).
Medical Emergency:
Officers, EMTs, and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to the outdoor tennis area for a report of an injured student. EMTs administered first aid and the student was transported by AFD to the hospital for further treatment - 1538 (1010-143-OF).

Medical Emergency:
Officers and EMTs were dispatched to Greenwich for a report of an injured student. EMTs administered first aid and recommended the individual visit the University of Massachusetts Health Services for further treatment - 0554 (1010-126-OF).
Suspected Drug Activity:
While on routine patrol, officers observed what they believed to be drug use activity in the Five College lot. The individuals involved were identified as a visitor and a Hampshire College student. Officers followed appropriate protocol and cleared the scene – 2350 (1010-127-OF).

Fire Alarm:
Officers and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to Dakin for a fire alarm. The cause of the activated smoke detector in the hallway was unknown. AFD checked the area, reset the panel and cleared the scene – 1223 (1010-125-OF).

Officers, EMTs, and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to the Johnson Library for a report of an ill student. EMTs administered first aid and AFD determined the individual should be transported to the hospital - 1049 (1010-120-OF).

Vandalize Property:
Officers were dispatched to Franklin Paterson Hall for a report of graffiti on the basement floor on the north side of the building. A work order was placed with Physical Plant - 1726 (1010-122-OF).
Medical Emergency:
Officers and EMTs were dispatched to Merrill Masters for a report of an injured student. EMTs administered first aid and recommended the student receive further medical treatment at Umass Health Services - 1941 (1010-123-OF).
Maintenance Problem:
Offices were dispatched to Enfield for a report of a vent in the ground that was smoking. Amherst Fire Department was dispatched. The problem was corrected by Physical Plant and AFD cleared the scene - 0737 (1010-124-OF).

Vandalize Property:
While on routine patrol in the Johnson Library, officers observed damage to an exit door. A work order was submitted to Physical Plant - 0343 (1010-104-OF).
Police Information:
Officers were requested by Public Safety officials to issue a trespass to an individual who has been involved in several incidents on Hampshire College property. A trespass notice was issued and documented - 1245 (1010-105-OF).
Medical Emergency:
Officers, EMTs and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to the Public Safety office for a report of an ill student. EMTs administered first aid and AFD transported the individual to the hospital – 0130 (1010-106-OF).
