Resources for Current Students

This page is your easy link to all the important housing instructions, forms, and applications you'll need while you are a resident at Hampshire College.

*Fall inspections will begin on September 26, 2011 and will continue until all common areas have been checked.*

Maintenance/Repair:
Click here for instructions on entering a work order for your room or common area. Emergency work orders after business hours must be called in to public safety at x5424.

Fire, Health, and Safety: All the juicy details about inspections, fire alarms, and fire drills!

Changing Rooms: Room assignments are made for the entire year, and you should expect to stay in your room until the spring term ends. If you are hoping to change your room assignment during the year, please refer to our page about room changes. Students who need to move based on extraordinary circumstances must fill out the Room Change Request Form (pdf) and meet with their house directors to discuss the circumstances. Please make an appointment with your house director, and bring your filled-out form with you to the meeting. If your director approves a room change, she or he will sign your form and the assistant director of residence life will assign you a room based on current vacancies.

Guest Registration:
Any student wishing to host a guest on campus must fill out the guest registration form. You and your guest must abide by the guest policy, as well as all other community norms. Please read the guest policy online or see page 136 of NSNS. Guests' cars must be registered with public safety as explained below.

Guest Parking: Guests must obtain a parking permit from Public Safety if they are on campus any time Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m OR Friday, 5:00 p.m. through 8:00 a.m Monday. Visitors should park in faculty/staff or visitor parking ONLY. Please contact the parking office at 413.559.6151 (x6151) with further questions or concerns.

The Lottery: The spring housing lottery is your chance to pick your room for the upcoming year. Our guide to the lottery process will tell you how to form a group to win a mod, help you calculate your lottery points, and tell you when to show up to try and win the mod of your dreams!

Sub-Free Housing: Hampshire is dedicated to providing a number of substance-free spaces every year in both the dorms and mods. The first step in the process is applying for substance-free status through the housing operations office.

Identity-Based Housing: Find out more about creating and living in an identity-based mod!

Storage Pick-up: Storage access is managed by individual house offices. If you still have items in storage, please contact the house office for the storage area you used to set up a time for pick up.

Local Storage Facilities: We strongly encourage students to use off-campus storage instead of relying on the limited on-campus space. We provide a list of local storage companies for your convenience. Please note that we are not endorsing these companies, but only providing contact information to make your search easier. It is still your responsibility to check the facility out before storing your items there.
