COVID-19 Testing Program

Hampshire is requiring weekly testing of the community for all students, staff, and faculty members living or working on campus.

COVID-19 Asymptomatic Testing

All residential and commuter students and all employees working on campus are required to take part in asymptomatic testing. With questions, please contact

> Campus community members can find more information and answers to FAQs here.

Onboarding and First Two Weeks Testing

All students will be tested when they arrive on campus for spring 2022 semester, and students will be required to test twice the weeks of January 24 and January 31. Employees will test on January 18, and then once a week thereafter (but may choose to test twice weekly along with students).

Appointments are strongly encouraged. There is only room for three people to wait indoors at the testing site at a time, so if lines form, people must wait outside of the main entrance of Cole Science. Making an appointment in CoVerified helps reduce wait times for everyone and makes the testing process smoother for all. (more information below)

The onboarding testing schedule is:

  • Tuesday, January 18: 9-11:30 a.m. / 12:30-3 p.m. for staff and faculty, orientation leaders, RAs, and CFs, international students
  • Sunday, January 23: Noon-6 p.m. for students returning to campus
  • Monday, January 24: 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. / 1-6 p.m. for students returning to campus, staff, and faculty
  • Tuesday, January 25: 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. / 1-6 p.m. for students returning to campus, staff, and faculty

Weekly Testing

All students, staff, and faculty must test once per week. Starting the week of February 7, testing will be available on:

  • Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. (closed for lunch 12:30-1 p.m.)
  • Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. (closed for lunch 12:30-1 p.m.)

There will be no testing during spring break (March 12-20, 2022). Appointments are strongly encouraged to reduce lines and outdoor waiting times.

Testing Site Information

The  testing site has moved to Cole Science 101. Please enter through the main entrance, and note that only three people may wait indoors at a time (due to social distancing requirements and not blocking the lobby or accessible door). Well-fitting masks (no gaps) are required.

Please bring your Hampshire (or another photo) ID, and make sure to sign the testing consent form for either employees or students prior to your first test. Our registration staff will verify your personal and demographic information on file when you check in.

The test used is a self administered anterior nare RT-PCR. You will lower your mask below your nose and above your mouth and swab each of your nostrils for 10 seconds, then the swab will be sent off to the Broad Institute for analysis.

We are asking everyone to make an appointment in CoVerified for a 10 minute time slot. Please swing by the testing site anytime within that 10 minute window for your test. Instructions on how to make an appointment can be found on our Asymptomatic Testing and CoVerified FAQ.

If you do not make an appointment, you can still drop by; however, unscheduled drop-ins will increase wait times for everyone, and may lead to waiting outdoors in the coldest/snowiest parts of winter.

If You Have Any Symptoms At All...

Do not come to the testing site with any symptoms of COVID-19 (even if they are very mild!) or if you have been directed to quarantine or isolate by a health care provider. When experiencing symptoms, everyone must stay home and obtain a symptomatic PCR test before coming back to campus/class/work. Students, call Health Services and employees call your health care provider for symptomatic PCR COVID-19 testing and guidance.
