Developing the Framework for the Future Student Experience

Hampshire is in the final stages of developing a framework for reinventing its future student experience. Building on a foundation of ideas and data gathered the past several years, President Ed Wingenbach and the Academic Innovation Planning Group have led community-wide meetings this fall to develop promising concepts, from which they have defined three distinct models to consider.

Members of our community are gathering on campus this week to explore these approaches and their components, and the College will also engage alums, parents, and friends in a virtual Zoom conference tomorrow:

Tuesday, October 1
7–8:15 p.m. EDT
via Zoom video conferencing

RSVP

Development of potential concepts will continue with open discussions with the Board of Trustees on campus:

Developing the Framework: Launch Sequence #3

Thursday, October 3
4–6 p.m. EDT
Hampshire College Red Barn

Friday, October 4
9–11 a.m. EDT
Franklin Patterson Hall, Main Lecture Hall

In the days following the Board meeting, the faculty will endorse one or more models, and the Board of Trustees will vote to adopt the plan. Then, the College will begin the important work of operationalizing the model and generating the resources to implement it as a sustainable plan beginning with first-year students in fall 2020, the College’s 50th anniversary.
