Hampshire Plans for In-Person Academic Year 2021-22

Once again, we will welcome all students back to campus and anticipate being able to resume a fully in-person student experience. While remaining vigilant about the safety needs of our community and aligned with public health guidance and practices, we are confident that Hampshire will be able to provide fully in-person courses, residential living, campus amenities, co-curricular activities, and services in the coming academic year.

Our optimism stems from our proven record of safety during the 2020-21 academic year, as well as steady progress in vaccination efforts at the state and national levels. Of course, we will continue to monitor the health and safety situation in the region, state, and nation, and are prepared to adjust if conditions change. In the meantime, we share these intentions with you to allow you and your families to plan for the coming year.

We know you may have questions about the fall. As we learn more, we will provide regular updates on Hampshire’s detailed plans for the upcoming year. For now, if you have questions about the reopening of fall 2021, please contact the Dean of Students Office at deanofstudents@hampshire.edu.

We are very excited about the prospect of returning to a safe, robust, and meaningful in-person academic year, and hope you are too. Until then, know that we are grateful to our entire community for being so conscientious in abiding by our safety protocols, including wearing face coverings, washing hands frequently, physically distancing, and participating in our Testing Tuesdays. Let’s continue to take care of ourselves and one another as we plan together for the coming academic year at Hampshire College.

Yours sincerely,

Christoph Cox
Dean of the Faculty & Vice President for Academic Affairs

Zauyah Waite, Ph.D.
