Heidi McAllister's main focus is developing the next generation of informed, passionate environmental stewards. She is currently the assistant director of conservation education for the United States Forest Service. She earned a master’s degree in environmental management from Yale University, has done executive education at the Harvard Kennedy School, and has a bachelor’s degree in environmental education and outdoor leadership from Hampshire College. Her background includes a wide variety of national and international experience including work overseas with the Peace Corps. She is the recipient of the 2006 Renewable Natural Resources Foundation’s Sustained Achievement Award, which recognizes McAllister's contribution of more than 25 years to the teaching of environmental education and the sustainable management of natural resources. McAllister is a published author in two languages and three countries and still enjoys climbing trees!
