Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

I've already enrolled at Hampshire under Early Decision 1 or am currently on a gap year. Is my spot saved in the class? Do I need to re-enroll immediately?

We are still saving your spot in the class. You have until May 1 to confirm your enrollment. To confirm that you would like to attend, please review and sign the PDF sent to you on February 1 that outlines the conditions of your enrollment. If you have any questions, please contact us at admissions@hampshire.edu, or reach out to your regional admissions counselor.

I am an applicant. What does this mean for me?

Unless you are an Early Decision 1 or Gap Year student, unfortunately you will not be able to enroll at Hampshire in the fall of 2019. We are in the process of withdrawing all other applications and no further action is needed at this time.

What about transfer students?

Unfortunately, we will not be enrolling any transfer students in the fall 2019 class or the spring 2020 class.

If I've already been accepted, can I defer until 2020?

No. In keeping with the enrollment conditions outlined for fall 2019, we will not accept any gap year or deferral requests this year. Students who are interested in deferring until 2020 will need to decline our offer of admission and reapply next year.

How will the January 15 announcement affect my financial aid award?

There should be no change to your financial aid award for fall 2019. Every year, students are required to fill out the FAFSA and CSS Profile, and changes in family income or financial status may result in changes to need-based financial aid over time.

I'm interested in engaging with the Board and senior team. Where can I send ideas?

The Offices of the President and Board of Trustees have been hosting meetings on campus for faculty, staff, and students, and they are eager to hear from prospective and accepted students and their families. The best way to reach the Board is to contact our dean of admissions and financial aid, Kristina Moss Gunnarsdottir at kmgAD@hampshire.edu. She will make sure your ideas are shared with President Nelson and Board members.
