Student Position with SSiMS Fall 2014

Hampshire College’s Center for the Study of Science in Muslim Societies (SSiMS) seeks a diverse selection of Five College students to work on a video evaluation project related to Islam and science. This innovative project will compile and evaluate online videos about various aspects of Islam and science that have been created and posted to the web over the past 15 years. Student-evaluators will watch videos from a list of URLs provided and complete an online form that includes questions about historical, scientific, and religious accuracy. The positions will start September 15, and run throughout the fall term. Selected employees will then continue into the spring semester, performing more detailed evaluations.

The work may be done anywhere with a good internet connection, as most of the work will be done online; occasional meetings on Hampshire College’s campus may be necessary. All of the videos will be in English. $8/hour.

The successful applicant will be an advanced student in a natural science (such as biology, physics, astronomy, geology) and/or an advanced student in Islamic studies. Additional knowledge of film studies is ideal but not essential. Should be available a minimum of 10 hours per week.

To apply, complete this form. Interviews have already begun. Don't delay!
