During Division I, the faculty advisor supports students’ academic progress, selection of courses, and progress toward completion of Div I, including assembling the Div I portfolio.
The Div I Advisor also facilitates a faculty-centered Advising Community, which consists of all of the students in Div I, Div II, and Div III with the same advisor. These cross-year advising communities come together regularly to create a cross-cohort community centered on academics.
In Division I, the advising communities (of first-year students, faculty, staff, and peer mentors) established within each of the two Division I Seminars that students take in the first year support navigating Hampshire and navigating Division I, and provide academic community.
In Division II, the advising communities (of Division II students, faculty, and Division III peer mentors) within the Division II seminars support navigating the transition from Division I to Division II (in the third-semester seminar) and the transition from Division II to Division III (in the sixth semester seminar).
It is the student's responsibility to remain in good communication with the academic advisor and to attend advising sessions on Advising Days.
During advanced studies, the Division II or III chair serves as the academic advisor.
