9 a.m.-noon: Check In, R.W. Kern Center
This is where it all begins. Students receive ID cards, keys, orientation schedules, and other important documents. At this time, students and their families can speak with staff from financial aid, student accounts, and the student employment office.
9 a.m.-1 p.m.: Moving In, Residential Houses
Students move into their assigned houses. Orientation and residence life staff will be available to help you. Please don’t hesitate to ask for assistance!
1-2:30 p.m.: Welcome Lunch, R.W. Kern Center
New students, families, and friends are invited to share a meal with President Ed Wingenbach and other special guests. Remarks will begin at 1:30
2:30-3 p.m.: Parents Discussion with President Ed Wingenbach, R.W. Kern Center, Taylor Room
President Wingenbach invites families of incoming students to share their reflections and ask questions.
3:00-3:45 p.m.: Family Orientation Roundtable: Academics and Advising, R.W. Kern Center, Taylor Room
Dive into Hampshire’s unique program, and learn how your student will be supported by the advising office. Faculty and staff will answer your questions about how narrative evaluations work in place of grades, how students progress through Div I in their first year, and more.
4:00-4:45 p.m.: Family Orientation Roundtable: Life Outside the Classroom, R.W. Kern Center, Taylor Room
Learn how we facilitate student growth and success outside the classroom. We’ll discuss housing, wellness resources, and services that support campus life. Discover, too, how your student can get involved with College-affiliated groups, recreation activities, and athletics.
4:30-5:30 p.m.: Family Reception, R.W. Kern Center, patio
Families are invited to join staff and faculty for refreshments and conversation while students meet their orientation leaders.
5:30-6:45 p.m.: Dinner and Dessert, R.W. Kern Center
Before you head home, stop by for a casual dinner and dessert.
