Carol Salzman 71F

Secretary to the Board

Carol Salzman joined the Board of Trustees in 2014.

Carol is a retired physician who volunteers at Mobile Med, a clinic for low-income and uninsured patients.

After graduating from Hampshire, Carol completed an MD and PhD in physiology at Georgetown University. Her doctoral research was in the role of lingual lipase and lipid digestion in neonates. She completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in infectious diseases at George Washington University (GW) where she also served as chief medical resident.

After completing her training she worked at the Washington VA Hospital in the Department of Infectious Diseases (ID) and subsequently opened a solo practice in internal medicine and ID. She also taught medical students at GW and held a clinical professorship at GW Medical School until her retirement. She is Board Certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases and has been a long-time member of the Greater Washington ID Society.
Carol has three children and lives in Maryland. She married fellow Hampshire alum and former Hampshire Trustee Michael Mann 72F.
