The Clery Act
The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, a part of the Higher Education Act of 1965, requires colleges and universities to disclose certain timely and annual information about campus crime and security policies. The act requires colleges to prepare an annual campus security and fire safety report that details crime data as well as safety and security policies and protocol for the prior calendar year. Crime statistics are also submitted to the Department of Education.
