Lowry-Bruno-McNeal Fund

To Promote the Participation of Underrepresented Groups in Science

A fund is being established to honor Nancy Lowry, Merle Bruno, and Ann McNeal for their trailblazing work over almost 40 years in developing programs to attract and support students and faculty from underrepresented groups to the pursuit of science at Hampshire College. Despite progress nationally and at Hampshire, much remains to be done to promote the careers of underrepresented groups in science, and at Hampshire these groups include women, minority, international students, and faculty.

The Lowry-Bruno-McNeal Fund will support faculty and student projects, curricular innovations, partnerships, and events that will help enable Hampshire to continue to be a leader in providing educational opportunities and professional mentoring for underrepresented groups in science. In addition, the fund will support the articulation and development of a range of models for career patterns to encourage continuity in the scientific careers of scientists in these groups.

This fund will be administered by a committee of faculty from the School of Natural Science.
