Oct. 24-25: Scapegoat Garden Dance Theater Company

Scapegoat Garden Dance Theater Company will perform in Hampshire’s Main Dance Studio Friday, October 24, and Saturday, October 25, at 8 p.m. as part of Family and Friends Weekend.

Conceived and directed by new Assistant Professor of Modern and Contemporary Dance Deborah Goffe, Scapegoat Garden’s work is intended to “create compelling, interdisciplinary performance that goes in through the eyes, skin, ears and mouth to stir those who witness or participate.”

Dynamic movement, eclectic music, and projected images intersect in this interactive dance theater work centered around the notion of giving birth. Scapegoat Garden invites viewers to join them in celebrating, mourning, and reconciling the dance with societal expectation, biological realities, and the desire to reproduce ourselves in the world.

The Hartford, CT, based company has performed at venues and events including the Wadsworth Atheneum and the Fuller Craft Museum, the International Festival of Arts and Ideas and Rebound Dance Festival in New Haven, New York City’s Raw Material Performance Series at Dance New Amsterdam, DUMBO Dance Festival, Artists of Tomorrow Festival, and Fridays at Noon at the 92nd Street Y.

A $5 donation is requested. For reservations, call 413.559.5889 or email hampdancereservations@gmail.com.
