Brett Morgen's Newest Documentary Featured in the New York Times

Known as the "mad scientist" of documentary filmmaking, Hampshire alum Brett Morgen is no stranger to tackling complex stories. In his newest film Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck Morgen used journals, home movies, and more than 100 previously unheard cassette tapes to help weave a story that serves to humanize the often mythologized Kurt Cobain.

Morgen was also a guest artist at last year’s Creative Media Institute at Hampshire College, a collection of intensive, week-long screening seminars and creative labs led by practitioners and professionals working in film, video, photography, and new media.
