Div II Profile: REJJIA CAMPHOR 16F

ANY SURPRISES OR PIVOTS DURING DIV II?

Last semester, I submitted a play to the Five College Word Festival and was accepted to workshop it with other black and brown people of color. It was an exciting learning experience, especially finding solidarity and resonance in similar issues and our ways of writing performance art. Also, I’m a finalist for the Baltimore 2018 youth poet laureate competition, which I’m extremely excited about. My Div II will focus on creative writing, cultural and women’s studies, and art. I want to develop my writing through creating longer works that can be performed. In the realm of cultural studies, I’m interested in learning more about body politics and how they intersect with race, gender, and the environment. And I’d like to expand my art-making through illustration and drawing that bring to light the concepts I’m studying. By the end of Div II, I want to have created something powerful, and have it discussed and possibly performed. I want to impact people and make them think about how they move in the world. I want to develop my writing skills in various forms that fit different topics and issues. I want to meet more people of color to connect and collaborate. I’d also like to grow in self-motivation, self-love, self-care, and mindfulness.

HOW WILL YOU CELEBRATE PASSING DIV II?

I’m thinking about treating myself to a day of fun with my friends. And then an end-of-the-year hibernation.
