Hampshire Alum Rapper Merci D. Featured on WBUR for New Album ‘Ooze’

Creative studies and film graduate Mercedes D. Loving-Manley 16F released her latest project on November 12

Mercedes D. Loving-Manley 16F AKA Merci D. released her new album Ooze, an impactful collection of songs exploring the “tenuous duality of life.”

She describes the project as "a little peek into what life has been like for me for the past two years [...] It's a little bit of fun, a little bit of feeling down and sad...but mostly it's me remembering who I am and my purpose."

Loving-Manley graduated in spring 2020 with a degree in creative studies and film, just after the pandemic sent students home. For her Div III, she created “The World and Then Some,” a documentary about the lived experiences of trans and queer people of color in Boston. Since graduating, Loving-Manley has continued working on film projects, and has been an artist-in-residence at MASSMoCA as well as a fellow with the Boston Ujima Project.

Read about and listen to the story behind Ooze on WBUR’s website.
