Welcome Alumni Trustee Noelle Cocoros 96F

Her four-year term begins July 1, 2025. Noelle replaces current Alumni Trustee Alice Petty 89F who is joining the board as a regular member.

The alumni trustee is one of four elected positions on Hampshire’s board, alongside an elected faculty trustee, student trustee, and staff trustee. Noelle is an epidemiologist by training and is a principal research scientist at the Department of Population Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute. Her work includes leading large multi-site studies for state and federal agencies, serving on an executive committee that guides the operations of a national public health system, and directing an office of more than a dozen epidemiologists. Noelle is also a professor of clinical surveillance epidemiology at Aarhus University in Denmark and was previously the director of research and evaluation at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Bureau of Infectious Disease.

Noelle received her doctor of science and master of public health degrees in epidemiology from Boston University School of Public Health. At Hampshire, her Div III was focused on molecular immunology. Noelle is originally from Brooklyn and has lived in Boston since 2000, where she has been active with the Hampshire alumni community.

"We're excited that Noelle is joining the board, bringing a fresh perspective and leadership experience," says Juana Schurman 72F, chair of Trusteeship and Governance. "The alumni community chose her from an excellent cohort of candidates. Many thanks to the Alum Action Group (AAG) for vetting the nominees, and to all the alums who attended the candidate forum and participated in ranked choice voting."

A total of 888 alums voted in this election from among 12,552 eligible alum voters.
