Students at Hampshire College

Hampshire has suspended all campus visits as we face the spread of COVID-19 as a global community.

Admissions staff are working remotely during the pandemic. We miss seeing you and welcoming you to our campus in person! If you need to contact us, please email, or check out our staff page to connect directly with your regional counselor.

We check email daily and attempt to respond to all messages within the same weekday if received by 3 p.m. EST.

We appreciate your patience as we all navigate these difficult times. Stay safe and healthy, and take care of yourselves and those around you. Thank you for your interest in Hampshire College!

Why Hampshire

As a student you will join a diverse community who thirst for meaningful education, want authentic assessment beyond grades, seek to pose compelling questions, and want to collaborate with faculty and peers.

Here you'll learn to connect ideas—and to put them into action. You'll build an education that reflects your passions and your goals.

There is no other college that approaches undergraduate learning this way.

Hampshire's admissions process is personalized and holistic. The criteria used to make admission decisions draws on years of research into the qualities and characteristics of students who thrive here.

2016-17 Fulbright top producer badge

The U.S. State Department and the Chronicle of Higher Education named Hampshire College a top producer of Fulbright Scholars.

"There are two reasons why Hampshire graduates achieve so much. One is the kind of person the college attracts. The other is what the college does for them by equipping them to become their own wide-ranging explorers and connection-seekers."

Loren Pope, Colleges that Change Lives

Hampshire College is a member of Colleges that Change Lives, a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and support of a student-centered college search process.

Areas of Study
At Hampshire you won't choose a major the way you might buy a product. Rather, you'll build a concentration out of your interests and intellectual curiosity, in close consultation with your faculty advisors.
