High School Diploma Equivalents for Financial Aid

To apply, follow all the instructions for applying for financial aid.

Other Requirements

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA or EQUIVALENT: Federal regulations require students to possess a high school diploma, or its equivalent, to be eligible for financial aid. Hampshire College follows the same policy with regard to aid eligibility. The equivalents to a high school diploma are:

  • a GED; or
  • Homeschool; the student has completed a secondary school education in a homeschool setting that is treated as a homeschool or private school under State law and has obtained a homeschool credential, or if State law does not require a homeschool student to obtain a homeschool credential, the student has completed a secondary school education in a homeschool setting that qualifies as an exemption from compulsory school attendance requirements under State law.
