Counseling Services

Update from Counseling Services - April 1, 2020

As we all adjust to the changes of the semester in response to the COVID-19 virus, Hampshire Counseling Service remains committed to supporting student wellbeing and growth.  In light of Hampshire’s transition to remote learning, as well as recommendations from the Governor of Massachusetts and the CDC to limit personal contact, Hampshire Counseling will be transitioning from in-person therapy to phone consultation and support. We readily encourage you to reach out as needed so that we can continue to provide services that remain helpful while also keeping the community healthy and staying within our scope of practice.

  • For students who remain on campus: The counseling office will be offering phone support and consultation during our normal hours, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-5 p.m. M-F.  Phone consultations are generally 20-25 minutes, and offered as a check-in with a counselor for additional support as you navigate this time of uncertainty and transition. One of the goals of these conversations is to assess your current situation and if appropriate, to help you connect with online mental health services, off campus support, or other appropriate resources.
  • For students outside of the Pioneer Valley: If you would like, we can help you establish care where you are located. For students who have the Hampshire College Health Insurance, your insurance covers you out of Massachusetts for both medical and behavioral healthcare. If you would like help locating a therapist, please contact us by phone or via the patient portal. If you leave a voice mail or portal message, please include your name, current location, phone number, and several good times for us to call you back.
