Bon Appetit, our dining services provider, offers a wide range of dietary options and is able to provide food choices tailored to most individual needs, therefore waivers from the College meal plan are rarely granted, but are possible. Please review and consider the options below and be in touch if you have additional questions or would like to consult about your specific situation.
For students in need of dining-based accommodations, the first step is to consult with general manager Andrew Fleischer and/or director of operations Michael Gallo O'Connell about how they can accommodate your needs in the dining hall. They are available throughout the school year and over the summer, in person and via email, to discuss your dietary needs.
Dietitian: Daniele Rossner is a registered dietitian with whom students can also meet to discuss options available to them to create a healthy, balanced dining experience.
Meal Exchange: If students needs access to dining at another Five College institution because they are attending a course during meal times, they can request access to dining on the host campus as a courtesy. Learn more about 5-college meal exchanges.
Meals To-go: Other services available to students through dining services include the Hampshire Express Meal option, which provides carry-out meals for students with meal plans who cannot attend regularly scheduled meals because of class conflicts, work, or illness.
Meal Plan Modification or Waiver: Students have the right to request waivers or modifications of the meal plan as an accommodation based on documented disability. If it is determined that dining services cannot meet a student's needs through the above steps, students should pursue the disability disclosure and accommodation request process to assess whether a waiver can be granted.
Please refer to the Hampshire Handbook for more information about Dining and Meal Plans.
