Five College Queer Gender and Sexuality Conference

Friday March 6, FPH, Noon
Saturday March 7, FPH, 10 a.m.

The 6th Annual Five College Queer Gender and Sexuality Conference will be held at Hampshire College in Amherst, MA. March 6-7, 2015.

The Queer Conference is student-led, and aims to offer an accountable and supportive environment to further explore a wide range of topics and their intersections, such as race, genders, sexualities, ability, class, kink, survival strategies, and many more, in a specifically queer context.

We strive to provide a safer space for engaging, learning, and fostering community with a wide range of workshops, panels, performances, and lectures by student leaders, Five College faculty and staff, off-campus educators, and nationally-known performers and speakers.
For more info and a schedule of events, please see the 6th Annual Five College Queer Gender and Sexuality Conference event on Facebook.

Deaf Gain

March 8, FPH MLH, 5-7 p.m.
Sponsored by ASL Collective

Through their in-depth articulation of "deaf gain," the contributors to this path-breaking volume approach deafness as a distinct way of being, one that opens perceptions, perspectives, and insights less common to the majority of hearing persons. By framing deafness in terms of its intellectual, creative, and cultural benefits, Deaf Gain recognizes physical and cognitive difference as vital to human diversity. Dr. Joseph Murray will discuss the book, participate in a Q&A with audience, and sign books.
