Hampshire College provides you with group term life and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance through Prudential. You are covered at a rate of 2.0 times annual salary benefit, up to a maximum of $150,000. Age reduction schedule applies after age 70. Coverage begins on the first day of the month following or coincident with the date of hire. This benefit is paid in full by the College.

Once you are enrolled, you may change your beneficiaries by completing a Beneficiary Change Form and returning it to the human resources office.

Hampshire College provides you with basic long-term disability insurance through Prudential after one year of employment. After six months of total disability, this plan provides a continuation of salary and retirement premiums until age 65 or the termination of the disability. Benefits amount to 60% of basic monthly earnings up to a maximum benefit of $7,500 per month. This benefit is paid in full by the College.

Hampshire College offers employees voluntary supplemental life insurance for themselves, their spouses/partners, and/or children through Symetra. The amount of coverage available for the employee is between 1.0 and 5.0 times annual salary with a maximum benefit of $300,000. The amount of coverage available for a spouse/partner is $10,000, $30,000, or $50,000. The amount of coverage available for a dependent child(ren) is $10,000. Employees must elect coverage in order to elect spouse/partner and/or dependent coverage. Coverage is available on the first day of the month following or coincident with the date of hire. This is an employee-paid benefit.
During the initial eligibility period, within 30 days of hire, evidence of insurability is required for coverage over $150,000 for the employee and $30,000 for the spouse/partner. After the initial eligibility period, evidence of insurability is required regardless of amount of coverage requested.
